The U19 World Boxing Championships 2024 is underway from October 26 and will continue until November 3 at the Pueblo Convention Center in Colorado, marking an exciting chapter in youth boxing.
This event is the first-ever global U19 World Boxing Championships, exclusively for boxers aged 17 and 18, and will feature competitions across 10 weight categories for both men and women. With World Boxing’s commitment to securing the sport’s inclusion in the LA 2028 Olympics, this event reinforces boxing’s core role in the Olympic movement.
India has fielded one of the largest contingents in the tournament, with 19 skilled pugilists—9 men and 10 women—ready to compete on the world stage.
This championship provides a prime platform for young boxers to showcase their talent and battle for global recognition in their respective weight categories.
List of Indian boxers that will compete at the Championship
Men’s:
1. Rishi Singh (50kg)
Rishi will face Zafarbek Kamilov (KGZ) in the first round. He could potentially face Yusran (SGP) / Polines (CAN) in the QF. In semis, Seiya Nakayama, an old rival, could be his opponent. Nakayama emerged victorious at the 2023 ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships, defeating Rishi enroute the title.

In the first round, Krrish is drawn against Jacob (AUS) and is scheduled against Yahiaoui (ALG) in R16. He could be pitted against Joseph (ENG) / Kangpi (THA) at the QF stage. Joseph can prove to be a tricky opponent, considering his past results. Home favorite Emmanuel Chance is most likely the semi final opponent and a hurdle to cross, as he has won all the 14 bouts he has played until now since his debut.
It is worthy to mention that Krrish had won a bronze medal at the Youth World Boxing Cup 2024.

5. Sumit (70kg)
Sumit faces Festim Nimani (GER) in the R16. In the R32, Malachi Ross (USA), the prodigious young junior No.1 boxer will be waiting Sumit. This can be an intense match up considering the fact that Sumit has also won bronze at 2024 Youth World Boxing Cup.
6. Rahul Kundu (75kg)
The silver medallist from the 2024 Youth World Boxing Cup starts off his campaign facing Obijiaku (JAP) in the QF (75kg has 8 entrants). He can face either Linkyn (AUS) / Ramazan (KGZ) in SF. A very unique draw for heavyweights category, Kritika has an empty bracket in SF and faces Stella (CZE) in the finals. It should be interesting to see how she performs in the finals without any opportunity to acclimatize to the arena.

Vanshika similarly has only Victoria Gatt (GER) in the draw bracket and as a fan it will be interesting to watch how she capitalizes on this opportunity.
