In 2022 India created history by becoming 5th nation to win Thomas Cup in history. In 2024 with exactly same team as 2022, can India regain its title?

Even though India has same team members there’s an issue, In 2022 Lakshya Sen was 1st MS then Shrikanth and then HS Prannoy. HS Prannoy had started gaining his peak performance during the championship season. With 3rd MS, he had an easy task compared to 2024 Thomas cup. Its always easy to beat 3rd singles in any team event than to beat 1st singles, and now HS prannoy will have to do better than last Thomas Cup, now as Lakshya Sen is at 2nd MS, its a really advantageous position for Indian team. Now this year Shrikanth as a 3rd player is also a very good standing as he can definitely keep up with the 3rd MS from almost all countries, there are some countries with really strong 3rd MS like China(Lu Guangzu/Weng Hong Yang), Denmark(Gemke), Japan(Koki Watanabe/Kento Momota). So for Indian MS to win all 3 matches is not impossible, but with Prannoy at not very good form and not being consistent in recent months, its quite difficult for India to start off with first MS win against big teams.

Mens Doubles from India is looking really good as of now with recent performances of Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty as world number 3 and their 2023/2024 recent performances makes them without doubt the best pair in the world as of now. They recently also won Asian Games 2024. Indias 2nd MD Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun are also looking really good with their first win against Thailand in first match. So if they keep performing like this they might even do way better than last Thomas cup.

With Win over Thailand in group stages, It is looking positive for India to reach quarter final stage of Thomas Cup. their next challenge is up against Indonesia(Silver Medalist from 2022) with even stronger team than before having Ginting and All England Champion Jojo Jonathan Christie also MD All England Champions Ardianto and Fajar Alfian. This team is looking mighty strong compared to reigning champions India.

The championships has just started and it is going to be very exciting to watch who might come up with the best team results.
